CAROLINA SANTIAGO MARTÍNEZ - PlayFull
PlayFull Carolina Santiago Martínez
Triptych for piano and electronics based on collaborative games
Culture arises and unfolds in and as play. Culture itself bears the character of play (Homo Ludens, J. Huizinga). The act and the process of playing have served as methodologies to create three collaborative works, where experimentation arises between composer and performer during the creative process. By emphasising the blurring of hierarchies and defining the game board as a working field, the developed experiments are inspired by the games of the blind man's bluff, the spinning top and the ping pong table tennis.
Composers/ co-creators/ collaborators:
Carmen Kleykens Vidal (Evasión del tacto)
Francis St-Germain (44 Toupies)
Fiona Xue Ju (Ping Pong Game)
Concept, co-creator, pianist, performer interludes composer: Carolina Santiago Martínez
